Adriatic Sea

The Adriatic Sea is a semi-enclosed sea of the Mediterranean Sea, located between the Apennine and Balkan peninsulas. To the south, the Strait of Otranto, 71 km wide, connects the Adriatic with the Ionian Sea. The sea is about 800 km long, 150 to 200 km wide, and covers an area of about 144,000 km².
